Laser Treatments Q&A

How do laser treatments work?

Laser treatments use powerful light-emitting devices to accomplish various goals in dermatology and aesthetic medicine. Each laser light has one singular wavelength, and different laser treatments use different wavelengths to target specific cells or perform certain functions.

For your safety, Salida Dermatology provides protective goggles to wear during laser treatments. Special goggles shield your eyes so the laser light cannot damage them. Your provider may also offer you the option to use local or topical anesthesia during a laser treatment to keep you comfortable.

What are my laser treatment options?

Salida Dermatology offers multiple laser treatments and other procedures that use similar types of energy on your skin. You can get:

Intense pulsed light (IPL)

IPL therapy uses bright flashes of scattered light (instead of a laser) to reduce skin pigmentation.

Thermo microneedling with radiofrequency (skin tightening)

Microneedling procedures stimulate collagen growth by injuring your skin using fine needles. Radiofrequency, a form of gentle energy, deepens your skin’s improvements.

Skin resurfacing

Skin resurfacing procedures increase cell turnover to promote a clear and smooth complexion.

Acne laser treatments

Lasers can treat severe cystic acne by killing the bacteria and reducing skin inflammation.

Hollywood Laser Peel®

A Hollywood Laser Peel uses a Lutronic™ laser to exfoliate your skin, stimulate collagen growth, and soften the tone and texture of your complexion.

Tattoo removal

Do you have tattoos that no longer represent who you are? Laser light can break down the pigment. Repeated treatments cause the tattoo to lighten significantly or disappear entirely.

Permanent hair reduction

Laser hair removal targets your hair follicles to cause them to stop growing hair. This permanently reduces hair growth, and you can get touch-up treatments to manage the remaining body hair.

Spider vein removal

Spider veins are web-like blood vessels that show up on your skin, most commonly on your face or legs. A laser heats and closes unwanted spider veins to redirect blood flow.
